PLA (Polylactic Acid)

1 product grades in this material family

Material Overview

PLA (Polylactic Acid) is the most widely used FDM material and the easiest to print. Derived from renewable plant-based sources, it offers low warp, crisp detail and a clean, low-odor printing experience, making it the standard choice for prototyping, education and visual models.

Properties

  • Density 1.24 g/cm3; tensile strength 50 MPa; elongation at break 5%; glass transition temperature ~60 deg C; biodegradable base material; excellent surface finish and detail retention.

Key Advantages

  • Low warp and excellent first-layer adhesion; prints without a heated bed or enclosure; very low odor, safe for office and lab use; wide temperature tolerance; large color portfolio available.

Printing Parameters

  • Print temperature: 190-220 deg C; bed: 45-60 deg C (optional); speed: 40-60 mm/s; nozzle 0.4mm recommended; dry at 45-50 deg C for 4-6h before use to prevent moisture stringing.
