TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane)

Featured Material 7 product grades in this material family

Material Overview

Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) is a high-performance elastomer combining rubber-like flexibility with the processability of thermoplastics. FILAMENT LAB offers seven shore hardness grades from 65A to 95A, covering applications from soft conformable wearables to rigid functional parts.

Properties

  • Properties per grade: Shore hardness 65A-95A; density 1.02-1.22 g/cm³; tensile strength 25-52 MPa; elongation at break 350-570%; excellent abrasion resistance, tear strength and low-temperature flexibility.

Key Advantages

  • UV/abrasion resistant; outstanding layer adhesion for functional parts; consistent 1.75mm diameter with +/-0.03mm tolerance; low moisture uptake, vacuum-dried before packaging; spooled with precision winding to prevent tangling.

Printing Parameters

  • Print temperature: 210-260 deg C depending on grade; bed: not required to 60 deg C; speed 15-60 mm/s; minimum nozzle 0.4mm; dry before printing at 65-70 deg C for 3-4 hours.

Material FAQ

Does 65A support bridges?

Use supports for overhangs above 45 degrees; direct-drive extruders recommended.

Can I print 70A on a Bowden printer?

Yes, but reduce retraction and slow the print for best results.

What bed temperature?

0-45 deg C; a PEI or glass bed with light adhesive works best.

Does 80A require an enclosure?

No, but an enclosed chamber improves layer consistency.
